It just wasn't terribly interesting to me back then. I had actually never tried the mods for Rome, and I saw it as a play-and-then-discard game back in 2004. I am always a latecomer to everything, but finishing Oda and Tokugawa campaigns in Shogun 2 tempted me to go back to previous Total War games that I have - Medieval II, Rome, and Medieval.
